I have an idea that I would like to see produced. I am a nurse and would like to see this medical device presented for patent in order to present it to companies.
I have had GE asking to see my idea but need it patented first so theft of idea is not an issue to deal with.
How do I go about patenting my idea and who would I speak to about this?

The first step would be to do a patent a search on your idea. Next file for a provisional patent assuming the patent search comes back positive.
